Default Car weights (S2K, Boxter S)

OK I see a bunch of people quoting vastly different weights for the 2 cars -- S2K vs Boxter S. Most of the people who race the BoxS say that it weights like nearly 3000 lbs, and some people say the S2K weighs as little as 2700.

I looked up both on edmunds, and it says S2K - 2809 BoxS - 2855. That is just about the same. I checked the honda/porsche web site and they say about the same thing (2810lbs vs 1295Kg/2849lb)

Why does everybody quote a different weight for the 2 cars?

I think the problem is on Boxster S, that car has so many optional things to add, from the 17 rims to 18rims will add weight, cell phone, NAV system add weight, HID headlight add weight. better sound system add weight, Porsche OEM body kit add weight, Sport suspension add or decrease the weight....
just my guess.

I also think that each cars of same model will have different weight. the different on cars like s2000 (which doesn,t have many optional thing ) should be small. but no two car weight exactly the same.
again just my guess

I recently weighed my car - 2830 lbs. That's with a full tank of gas, a Da'Lan hitch on the back, tool tray removed, spare still in place, a few other parts that weigh about 5 lbs in the car, and nobody in the car.

The Boxster is about the same as the S2000, and the Boxster S is slightly heavier.

Within about a 50 lb difference for most of us, it's not going to matter. Driving skill is going to be a bigger factor...

2650lbs??? Whose S2000 only weights 2650? Nobody's, that's who!

I don't think I could find 200lbs to get rid of, even if I tried. Spare tire, tools, air compressor/condenser, lightweight exhaust, and some new wheels, and then MAYBE if you empty the gas tank.

Here's a thread with actual weights from scales: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=44306

2727, 2745, and 2830.

If you have a link to somebody putting their Boxster S on a scale, I'd be interested in reading it.
