Default Change oil?

So about two weeks ago i went to a local shop to get my oil changed. I always do it myself but i had a coupon for a good price and i was feeling lazy so i took it to these guys to get it done. The place was empty it took them less than 10 minuts and it was done. Two days later i checked the oil and it wasnt even showing on the dip stick!!!! i immediately freaked out drove another car and bought some oil. It needed about 1.5 quarts to fill it up. I took back to the shop and they realized that the ooil filter wasnt fully on.......
Long story short since then i feel like maybe my motor has a louder ticking noise when cold. Could this be my imagination because i am anal about certain things like that..... maybe because its a different oil that it may cause this sound. I just assumed they knew what grade to put in could they have put in a different oil grade and might this cause the noise??

possibly. although a good chance its just low on oil that may make the sound or a different oil filter or a combination causing a lower oil pressure at start up?

With your oil that low, your timing chain tensioner may have lost some of it's tension also, since it had no pressure to keep it in check.
If that's the case, it'll slowly get worse over time, but it isnt a major issue, and very easy to fix or replace.

^ I'm no expert, but i have to agree with that statement, i once ran the engine down to 2 qts during an oil change interval when i was using mobil 1, and shortly after the TCT starting making noise on start-ups, but if you keep an eye on ur oil level and always keep it topped off you should be able to extend the life of the TCT, as long as i keep my oil topped of the TCT only makes noise upon start-up.

what oil filter is on there? , a cheaper oil filter may have an poor anti-drain back valve and it can cause what you are hearing on cold start up. as the filter will lose oil to the pan, but the noise should go away within a few seconds. If it isn't a Honda OEM filter get rid of it.

They may have used a different oil viscosity, which can create additional noise at start up. If the noise only occurs on cold start up it's probably not a bigh problem - oil filter or oil viscosity related, but if it occurs all the time including hot temp operation then it could be a mechanical issue like the TCT.

I personally would dump the oil and filter for peace of mind.

Its not only at start up its while the car is cold. It sounds like a real faint rod knock or something involving that. Could a different oil viscosity make it sound like this. the car runs fine so its hard to imagine its a rod knock
