Changing the oil on Jack stands

Is that reasonable?

IMO it is not worth as much effort as some put into it. I always change the filter from above first so that it is over an empty pan (no reason to risk splashing oil with a drop). I use a floor jack to lift the right side of the car enough to easily get to the drain bolt. Once draining I lower it to get all the oil out, and raise it again to reinstall the bolt. I think it is counter productive to warm the engine so I always change the oil cold, and don't think pouring any 'flush' is needed.

But this is, IMO, the correct procedure for changing the oil...
If you are concerned about getting all the dirty oil out just do this. Drain the oil, and then pour down a litre of cheap conventional motor oil right thru the engine and out the drain plug. That will definately get almost all of the dirty stuff out of the drain pan.
