So all it does is make an led blink? If that is the case you can do this on your own for extremely cheap. All you need is a 555 timer and a couple of resistors to produce the same effect. All you need is the correct resistor to produce the same frequency of the flash of the alarm led.
Leaving the radio door open is a good idea as well. This light is easier to see though and really bright.
I should have a prototype ready by this weekend. I'll post up as soon as I do. BTW, I'll include install but you have to come to Atlanta or fly me out there
you could do it cheaply by buying and alarm scanner for 20 bux. you probalby can get a cool looking one.
under the dash in the fuse area you have the 3 male slot to connect
you just need to connect yellow to 'ACCessory' and connect red to '12v+ constant' and ground the black one on the side wall.
unless you are going for the oem look
the oem led is already powered by 12v+ you just need to ground a black/yellow wire(i think) near the hood open latch to light up the led.
if you are really cheap like me. i just used a wire and connect that black/yellow to the "accessory' male plug which ground when car is off and 12v when the car is on(shutting off led). it doesnt blink but it does it job and is crazy cheap.

I have the factory alarm and they mounted my LED on the center console. Are they usually mounted next to the speedo?

Actually, I just found out that this is an 04+ feature. All the others require drilling and mounting an LED.
Ok, finally got an update on this. So far it's been through one update and beta testing has been going on for a while. Modifry and I had to do a lot of testing on the unit and the car before we finally agreed on something that was simple enough to keep price down, but reliable enough to not fizzle out. The 1st unit of this last batch is on my car now and it works great. Really looks like I have an alarm on the car, it's easy to see through my 5% tint, and defitely more noticable than the radio LED. Anyway, here's a shot of the dash so everybody knows where the light is:

Beta testing will be done at the end of the week and I'll begin selling them to locals to get some user feedback and so I can monitor any problems if they exist. After I feel that everything is solid, I'll open it up to the everyone here through one of the vendors, probably s2kaccessories.com.
BTW, this installs with no cutting of factory wires and no tools other than a pair of pliers to do one splice crimp.

I bought the same idea off ebay a few years ago for $10. Came with an LED and all the wiring; I simply wired it up along with my radar detector and placed the LED along the A-pillar trim. Worked for me for over a year.
