Default Chime when opening the door?

I have looked (though not too hard) in the manual for the answer to this question: Why is it that sometimes there is a beep when opening the driver's side door after unlocking with the remote, and sometimes there is no beep?

You can make it chime everytime. If you unlock the door and listen closely you can hear the relay for the park lights click twice. If you open the door before the second click it will chime.

Not a good explanation of why but at least you know that it is suppose to do that

I never thought about that - it's the "lights on" reminder.

Thanks!

Actually, what I think changes this is how much time there is between unlocking with the remote and opening the door. I have noticed that my car will do a beep sound, sometimes two, when I open the door and I THINK it has something to do with how much time passes between unlocking and opening...

Is that what you are talking about?

Greg:

That is what I was talking about. It makes sense that it would be the "lights on" reminder.

I have an aftermarket alarm and it keeps the parling lights on for a minute, so I always hear that chime when I get in my car. It's a bit annoying, but you get used to it.
