chip for the s2k
Hi,
I don't know if this is the right forum but here goes. Has anyone "chipped" thier s2k (2000)? I haven't really seen any discussion about them. I am looking for a little added horspower and torque to get out of the corners a little faster. If you have, would you recommend any one in particular. What about price. I have heard anything between 150 and 1000. Are there any downside to placing a chip? thanks for any help that you can provide.

No chips for the S2k. A MY06 can be reflashed by Hondata...but that's it.
Your other alternatives are a piggyback system (VAFC Greddy Emanage Ultimate) or a replacement standalone programmable ecu (AEM EMS)

Thanks for the response Negcamber. Please excuse my ignorance, what is a myo6. Which of those options that you recommended would be the best "bang for the buck"? Are they all easy to install? Thanks.

Actually, one of the cheapest and most "bang for the buck" performance modifications is a new final drive gear set. Increasing the final ratio while lowering the potential top theoretical speed (167MPH or so on a pre 2004 model) will allow you to acellerate faster.
Since the AP1 S2K (pre MY04) is horspower limited to about 154-155 MPH, you can still obtain the same top speed but get there faster with a different rear end.
Price is around $1K installed.

Best bang for the buck is the VAFC. With a Boomslang or Frog plug-n-play harness, they are easy to install (although getting all the wires to go back in behind the kickpanel can be tough).
The Greddy Emanage Ultimate add some great functionalities for a bit more hp over the VAFC while remaining a piggyback.
The AEM EMS is the most complex and not as easy to install, but gives the greatest programming flexibility and potential hp.
NOTE: Each require tuning. They are only as good as their tuner. If you have an inexperienced or poor tuner, it's likely your hp gains will not be near as dramatic as they could be.
