Your wife might be a doctor but his "wife said OK" to the S2K.

Older ECU's had a socket for the chip and an upgrade was just a new chip, no other mods. Now days, there are no chips per se.

lude:

you got it.. hope to see you saturday

Chips in n/a cars do net 10hp or so.. not worth the investment in $$, loss of warranty or aggrivation..

bumping my a4 from 150 to 205hp tho.. that was worth it!!

I actually bought a second ECU that had already been chipped

the guys at APR were most helpful

so how does the 1.8t drive with the chip?? i've been thinking of getting a used a4 1.8t as a second car, but the motor was just too underwhelming for me. i couldn't even rev match when i downshift cuz throttle response was so poor. so is a chipped 1.8t noticeably more responsive to throttle input or is the turbo lag is still the same?? also how much quicker is the car with the added hp and torque compared with the stock 1.8t and the 2.8??

The answer is NO. You can not buy just an ECU chip to plug into the S2000 ECU. The S2000 ECU is not flashable. This is a quote from marcucci from a similar thread "What this means is that the code is "masked" in the processor chip at the factory. Not only can you not program it, you can not download it to know *what* to reprogram. Prior to this they used a "conventional" setup with a processor and outboard ROM. These were typically write-once chips that could not be reused, but could easily be replaced with a UV or electrically erasable PROM (EPROM or EEPROM)."

A quote from UL when asked about using the newer RSX style ECU for conversion on an S2000 "Very different. The RSX ECU (and all newer Honda ECUs) use a flashable system with more capabilities (it would seem) than the F20C ECU. The F20C is the last of the old style ECUs, and frankly seems somewhat similar to the Insight ECU if you can believe that."

Now see how simple it is to do a search and find what you need?

BTW, they probably had a full replacement ECU, Spoon, Amuse, Feels, Mugen all make them and they cost a little over $1000. They can bypass the second 02 simulator in your cat (not plural) so that you don't get a CEL when running a test pipe.
