Chirping 2nd
I find that I chirp 2nd fairly regularly if I stomp on the gas pedal just a fraction of a second before releasing the clutch (by pulling the foot up as quickly as possible). It kinda behaves like a mini-launch, as the RPM surges above the rev-match RPM, then are suddenly brought back to the correct revs by the rapidly engaging clutch.
However, normally I prefer my shifts to be smoother (the engine exactly at the rev-matched rpm when the clutch engages, with power coming on as the clutch engages). This does not produce a chirp. Unless you do a clutch dump while the engine is at power above the RPM for that gear and speed, you're not gonna chirp.

However local salaries in $AUD are comparable to US salaries in $USD, so it feels like $USD 80K would to you.
In exchange rate terms: 1 AUD = 0.55 USD so $AUD 80K = $USD 44K.
Part of the reason for the higher price over here is:
1) Luxury tax on vehicles over $AUD 55K.
2) Smaller market - probably only 300 S2000s sold per year, if that.
3) 10% sales tax.

My son, who is almost 19 and studying commerce at university, just got his first job as a trainee with an accounting firm. The full-time salary for this position is $AUD 23000. He loves my S2000 and would like one for himself but at 3.5 years salary he can forget it. He is thinking about a 10- year old Mazda MX5 (you call it a Miata) instead for $AUD 15K.

Poor kid. I feel bad for him.
Why do u want to chrip 2nd guys? U lose ground when u chrip. It is true it gives u the feeling that u have a powerful car, a monster that u have to control under u. If this is the case just go buy the worst tires out there like Kuhmo's and u will have a beast that u cant control even at 4th. With my Camaro, Cobra i have always searched for traction. For example, In the Cobra just going from Stock BFG tires that chrips 2nd,3rd and 4th sometimes to a better tires helped me to beat a friend that has SC'd 281Saleen that i have lost to him before the tires only. To my surprise when i raced the Saleen i didnt think he was that fast, but everytime i shifted he gained a little bit ground. I knew the thing that helped him is the traction because i struggle for it from a stop and between gears. So u should try to eliminate chripping if u want to be fast at dragracing and autocross. That is just my opinion.
