CHP found my car.
insurance will only total a car if the estimated cost of repair would exceed the value of the car. Depending on the mileage and year, i'd bet they total it, cuz the s2k's interior parts are certainly not cheap! Sorry bout your loss.

I just don't see why some people can somehow live their lives knowing they take another person's huge loss for their own gain.

Whoever did that is a horrible person, evil, bad, nasty, mean-spirited... they deserve

and to burn in

I am sooooo sorry.
Hey, if you can - if it is totalled, see if you can have the car crushed. When a car is stripped this clean, the thieves usually warehouse the parts, leave the carcass, and then buy the body at a police auction. Then they put the parts back on, and they have a legal, if not clean, title. Don't let the pr*cks who stripped your car have it and make a profit on it.
First, sorry for your loss. I'm sure this sickens any S2000 owner who sees this. So please excuse my morbidity here...
It's stripped so well, I wonder why they did it in that fashion? Also, why leave the mirrors?
I can now see why the mirrors are there. The driver's side mirror's base trim is busted off. They tried to take the mirrors, but figured it was too much trouble or didn't know you need to get to them via the inside of the door. Once they busted a mirror, that blew it's value as a set so they left them.
I can think of three reasons for this degree of stripping:
1. Someone with a crash damaged (front end) S2000 decided to midnight requisition some parts & a few spares.
2. Someone wants to "convert" their Del Sol or Civic.
3. Black market parts.
I suppose this will become more commonplace as the price of used S2000's fall to the high teens and low 20's.
I'm leaning towards #3. Some things don't make sense for conversions: like the center taillight.
Is there any way of finding out if any salvaged/wrecked S2000's have been purchased in your area?
