Hmm that's funny... because I used to have a MGB ($3000) and I never ever had to do that crap to my back window, and I could still see out of it??

This sounds about as silly as suing a car manufacturer for tires that wear out

I too was angered by the glass rear window. I think it would be nice for honda to offer us a nice fix. I don't like the fact that the plastic window scratches. For the average lesser-car-enthusiast, who doesn't know much about cars, they may not even know how to clean a plastic window. So they drive around with a white rear window, scratched-up, and can't see out of it.

I've posted a remark about honda's changes before, and I got PERSONAL negative remarks towards myself.

However I've come to terms with myself over the window. Honda must have spent a lot, and I mean a LOT of money just to design the top. How many other convertible Hondas are there? They just couldn't do it all at once, or thought it wasn't possible in the space allowed.

But, stupid things like the fact that our $32,000 car has two speakers!!!! And two crappy ones in really bad locations. This was a in-your-face problem that they should have never released the car with. I hope this is an easy retro fit for us soon.

I love my s2000. However with all the little changes for 2002, I will not be surprised if honda continues to make it for years to come, and even changes the body-style in a few years. Honda has a tendency to change things very often with their cars. I just hope they make this car an exception so I can keep it for years to come as a sorta-collector's car.

I wish Honda could do a recall on our windows, but they can't aford to. With all the recalls they've done, I doubt they are making much money on producing s2000s. They just need to hire an extra engineer to work out the details, like myself...I wouldn't mind working for them!

OK- I'm buying a 2002, the order is in. I don't like the small glass window and would like the plastic one because it is so much bigger.

Sorry I could not resist.
My comment is as absurd as the idea of suing HONDA for a plastic window.

People like you, and the lawyers, are part of the problem w/ the US judicial system. I'd love to get a free glass window, but Honda doesn't owe me one by any stretch of the imagination. On a low production car like this, too much stupid harrassment from the owner base could just inspire them to discontinue production of the S2000 and future similar cars.

Sorry but that idea sucks. Honda should sue you for not keeping the window nice; it was ok when they sold it to you. Just kidding but really, you should have known what you were buying. Having a plastic window is part of the charm of the car - like the start button.

My rear window was covered under warranty like krhorrocks.

Here's an advice.... Do what I did. When the local factory rep visits your dealer, politely ask him/her to replace the rear window. Advise then its a safety hazard b/c the scatches distorts your view at night. Also relay the scatches/crease were cause by the hard 'plastic well' which is a design flaws.

That may not get you a glass window but it'll most likely get you a new platstic window. Avoid future scratches by placing a soft towel in the well then protect the outside with plastic polish.

Let me know how it turns out.

On a recent trip to the US, I found out how much people hate lawyers.

Unfortunately, it is the inherant belief that a law suit can solve everything (in the US) that leads to unfounded suing/blasting.

This matter falls squarely in this court.

No case, no negligence, no breach of good faith. sorry

I'm not much of a lawsuit type person. Been sued once and have had to sue once. Both times sucked.

Did you realize the rear window was plastic when you purchased it? YES

Did they tell you it was glass but deliver a plastic window? NO

My advice to you is to trade up and get one with a glass window or buy some Plexus. I cleaned my window this last weekend and it is crystal clear.
