Cleaning SoftTop
Not sure if you have the OEM top which is actually vinyl made to look like cloth or an aftermarket one that could be fabric.
I prefer Raggtopp as it is recommended by those companies that actually make those tops. They have cleaning materials as well as wipe down products for each top. The Raggtopp has UV blockers and is absorbed well. Unlike another product 303 (Used in aviation and marine) it does not leave streaks especially when wet. I use 303 all the time. I use it to keep a Cessna cockpit, vinyl seats and dash in good condition and also my vinyl webbed patio furniture. However, Raggtopp is better for tops because it is made for tops.
My 2009 top looks new especially after using this stuff. I pretty much use it every month in the summer after a wash and once or twice in the California winter. Let me add that going over the interior frame tubes to eliminate any sharp spots will go much further prolonging the life of the top than treatment. Also pay attention to the elastic straps helping the top go all the way down.
I use the tonneau cover almost all summer long to keep the top clean and prevent UV damage. You cannot have UV damage if there is no UV reaching the top.

I use the same soap, same wash mitt, that I use for washing rest of car.
But when top is really dirty, I use a top cleaner. But this strips off the 303 protectant, so has to be redone.
Which is kinda a pain, making sure protectant goes on top, not glass or paint. Which is why I prefer just carwash soap most of time.
The 303 acts like a wax, keeping dirt from clinging to top. Largely rinses off, even blows off in wind. Hence just carwash soap works well for normal cleaning.

I think its important to reiterate and expound on what Cosmo mentioned: It depends on what top you have on the car. If you have an OEM original top: Your top is vinyl and must be treated with a vinyl-specific cleaner and protectant. If your top is aftermarket: It may be either vinyl or canvas (AKA "Haartz Stayfast" or some other trade name) and may need a specific product.
The big thing to know is that both 303 and Raggtop come in vinyl-specific and canvas-specific formulations -- you must know which type of top fabric you have before you purchase the wrong cleaner/protectant.
With all of that said, if you use the incorrect product you may see streaks on the fabric or you could potentially ruin a nice canvas top. Know before you buy. If you're still not sure, test any product on a small, out of the way place on the top to verify.
I have a Robbins Haartz Stayfast replacement top on my car (canvas). I use Raggtopp protectant, but usually clean it with the same car wash soap and water I use on the rest of the car.
