Default Cleared out Lights!!!

Is it illegal in any states to have clear head or tail lights? For the tailights, do you buy another bulb which is white or can you just shave off the amber coat thats on the bulb already with a razor?? thanks

I think you're supposed to have amber or yellow bulbs for the signal lights, and red for the brake lights. I do believe the clearing of lenses is okay, but you need the right colored bulbs. I got pulled over for having white bulbs and blue bulbs for my front corners in my old integra. As for the rear, I remember reading in SCC about how you do need red bulbs for the rear brake lights if you clear them out.

I don't know of any car that comes w/o some sort of amber reflector at the front corners. To me that suggests there must be some legal reason for that. I don't know that anyone would ticket you for that, but I was just thinkin' there must be a reason.

I'm glad you said that, I was about to put blue bulbs in my front corners and was wondering if it was legal. Saved me a ticket!

DOT regulation says that you much have amber reflector in the front of the car and read in the rear when viewed from a side profile. Ever notice how every single car sold in the US is his way?

I spoke to a few cops in texas about it, they have no idea. Then I call the Department of Public safety (DPS) in texas. Turn signals can be clear but must have a yellow/amber light. Brake lights can must be orignial from the factory as well as your front lights.
