Clutch Deceleration noise
what noise is it that the car makes when decelerating from 4k to 3k?...I hear a a very soft mild whine (whistle) type of noise...I dont know what it is...i have about 150 miles on my car...
My Service dept. tells me the noise is normal. I think the noise is the fingers on the pressure plate against the release bearing. So, I told them when it goes before 36K, It will be normal for Honda to fix at their expense!!!!
That noise is the clutch. The springs rattle. If you get the TSB55 work done it includes a clutch upgrade with stiffer springs that fixes the rattle. It's a bit like a chirping noise no?
I can live with it, but a friend of mine can't.... He made honda to change his clutch under warranty and the result is the same. I can't understand him, this car is a noisy car in it's own nature. If I were you I would wait until Honda come to release some note about it, or until they deliver some official kit regarding the S2000 clutch system. So wait and see, this will happen, just a matter of time.
For my part, this sound doesn't bother me, I have another noise that disturbs me more. Some whistling happen at high Rpm, it comes from somewhere in front of the dashboards or somewhere.... any idea?
Have a nice day!

I have the same turbinesque whine when downshifting. I think it is just transmission noise that is covered by engine/exhuast noise under acceleration. First time I heard it(test drive) I thought I was being pulled over ALREADY! 3600 miles later it remains unchanged, still makes me check the rearview occasionally though.
