That's not been my experience. Maybe I'm just not as attuned to the car as a lot of you folks are but the only time I've noticed the clutch delay is when I'm driving the car hard. I'm talking about full throttle runs to redline and then speed shifting to the next gear where I'm on the clutch and off again in a second or less. I do "normal" 4k, 1st to 2nd gear shifts as often as anyone and I've not felt the delay valve under those circumstances. I think there's probably some difference in our respective techniques to explain this. I also think I'm probably a bit more conservative than most.

Either way, the delay isn't usually a big deal and if it becomes one, it's not that hard to bypass.

Steve R.
That's exactly the same as my experience.

well said well said, I have bought an 04, and for the past two weeks, I have being thinking about the clutch every day I drive, how it feels like its abnormal and all.

Does any one know, is it a delay of disengage or engage?

If you can honestly ask that question, how can you say if feels abnormal? If you haven't been able to tell "where" the delay comes in, then I seriously doubt that you're feeling it at all.

To answer the question though, the delay effects clutch engagement, that is, when you take your foot off the clutch. It has no effect on disengagement.

is slows the clutch fluid in the slave cylinder. At high RPMs in has more tq off the flywheel and lets the disk slip / float.

Just remove the delay.... its not a major job, or just have a private mechanic
remove it and be sure to bleed ALL the air out of the reassembled slave cylinder.

Drive it and there is still a small chance you missed one little air bubble...
bleed it again.

So for the non-Drivers that are questioning this mod.... Think it as getting on the freeway and going to 3 at 8000 rpm to pass the minivan doing 40mph and you have only 100feet to pass... and the clutch will grab the second you find 3 not float around
