Default Clutch Engagement Point on AP1 ?

Hi fella's, let me just say that I a newbie to the S2000 and recently had the chance to test drive one today. It was a bit embarassing but on the first try I couldnt get out of 1st gear. ( I am coming from a VW Jetta 1.8t whose clutch engages at a pretty low RPM). It was only until I revved up to around 2-3k rpm before I was able to move. Is this characteristic of all AP1 S2000's? Or could the clutch be slipping? (The one I drove had about ~73k miles on the odometer)

TIA
Jon

S2Ks have no torque so you HAVE to rev them to get going or the engine will bog. Don't worry, it's normal. Besides, the higher rpm's is where you wanna be anyways.

It takes a little bit of revving to get it moving. I don't know how high really, it's more of an ear thing to me lol.

Coming from a jetta though, I can see how it would seem high though. I believe the jetta just makes a little more power down low compared to the s2k being a high end performer.

Yea I understand the lack of torque but in my situation, going from a complete stop to moving required that I blip the gas up to 2-3.5k rpm before it even moved . Is that supposed to be normal?

Appreciate all the feedback! I think I was just being paranoid.

Nope your not paranoid, lol. I personally was having problems starting out on hills when I first got the car. I'd have to rev it up to like 5k in order to not stall out until I got used to the car.... Kinda embarrising the first few times I stalled out on hills.

Is this an AP1-only thing?
