Yeah, but unless you plan on being 400+ HP, then you dont need more than the SPEC Stage 1. I just installed a SPEC stage 1 clutch with their aluminum flywheel. So far so good. I hadnt heard too much info about them and the s2000, but they were really cool to deal with. Ive only put about 100 miles on the clutch (it's not being driven atm) and it chatters a little. I am happy with the clutch though.

BTW...im pretty sure that its the aluminum flywheel that is causing the chattering.

Very light flywheels cause chatter. Heck, the stock one does.

May i add my "Experience." When i got my clutch installed (Exedy Hyper Single) and by the way this kit comes with a flywheel, My installer called me to tell me it was ready and while i did install gears also, his words were "damn, this thing spin sooo fast" He was freaking out to how qucik the car was reving.

I only say this cause buddy has installed Numberous gears and clutches in our cars, and i asked him "but man havent u put 4.77's in and what not, how come you say it acts diff." his answer was no one had installed this particular clutch kit, and i suppose perhaps it was the lighest of the set up's.

This is opnly my experience, while i do see ALOT of people here knock the Exedy for its wear life, i think ive founf it's all about how u work the clutch and whether you ride it at all or not.

Ive been going strong over 7k already on this clutch, and in conclusion, i think its THE SHIT, i wouldnt have gone any other setup, maybe that ogura clutch and thats about it, Hehe, hope i helped.
I am also using the Exedy Hyper setup in my car. I have close to 20k miles on the clutch and have absolutely no slipping whatsoever. I really like the Exedy also.

I hated the Exedy. I guess a puck clutch is just not for me, but it made the car unenjoyable to drive.

I have the hardtopguy ACT Comptech combo...personally I'm very happy with it...pedal effort feels like nothing to me...I actually wish it was harder. The stock pedal effort to me was just pathetic, I felt like I was driving a Civic...but thats just my opinion.

Again, I like this setup, however I'm sure that the other ones are very good as well such as Spec and others...

I'm becoming tempted by SPEC, especially the stage 2 and 2+. Can anyone recommend retailers, or just go straight to SPEC? Also, for those that bought SPEC kits, did it come with the throwout bearing?

stphotographer: How well does your SPEC Stage 2 do in heavy traffic? Do you find slipping it difficult when inching forward? My SC300 pedal pressure is easily double that of the S2000, so increased pedal effort is not a huge concern for me, even that isn't bad.

NFRs2000NYC: I can't speak for everyone here, but as far as clutches go, I'd much rather have one that's overbuilt than one that's not quite strong enough. So long as daily driveability isn't sacrificed I enjoy having a strong clutch in the car. It's nice to be able to snap the wheels loose wherever you please, yet still slip enough to get an effective launch.

As I mentioned before, I'll be installing a Lysholm type supercharger onto my car within the next 6-8 months (if BRP gets their kit together... HURRY UP GUYS!!!), and I want to be sure this clutch will be able to handle both the extra power and my driving habits effectively.

So if I were to go with the SPEC Stage 2+ (why not get the "+" for only $20 more?) what flywheel would most recommend? As a reminder, this is primarily a street driven car that will next season see a fair amount of track time (the type that has turns). Also, please mention if your flywheel came with pilot bearing.

Thanks again everyone, you're all a bunch of help

Im still pressed to see why everyone hates the Exedy clutch, and i think ive come to see that its because SUPPOSEDLY they have a short wear life, which in truth seems to be fault of a bad river. LoL.

This is the ONLY (or so i was told) aftermarket clutch that is actually completely re done. The SPEC, ACT, and so on. are all stock clutches that are re worked and branded, OF COURSE THEY HAVE A STOCK PEDAL feel.

I had to state that cause i just cant seem to understand why no one likes THIS BAD ASS CLUTCH KIT!

I highly doubt that the SPEC puck clutches are reworked. The Exedy is completely re-done because its a puck clutch. I didnt dislike it because of the short life of it (although it was short), but rather because it was a PITA to drive. My car is a daily driver and a puck clutch just isnt meant for daily driving.

Agreed the clutch is a harsh to drive, so like always, its about personal preference, personally, i can deal. And as per spec clutches, im sure there the same.
