Default clutch or SC check valve problem?

I don't do the hi rpm clutch drops often, but have had the opportunity to do it safely (IMHO) a few times over the last couple of weeks, this morning on the way to work being the latest. Here's the deal:

Start out for work (90% highway driving), it's cloudy, but you say WTH I'm going with the top down. Well, of course, halfway there it starts raining/sprinkling so I figure I better pull over and put up the top. Now, I have to safely merge with the flow of traffic from a stop on the side of the highway - what better way than a nice, 6-7K, SCed clutch drop? And around here, the shoulder on the hwy is usually nicely paved and not covered with oil, antifreeze, etc. because it is not driven on. Also, pavement is not really wet because I tend to pull over at the first sign of sprinkles.

The last couple of times I have done this, I have had the following happen:
Get a good launch, a little tire spin, grip, off we go. 1st to 2nd, shift at/near redline, going faster. 2nd to 3rd shift at/near redline, a little weirdness - revs drop when clutch depressed (as is normal), but when off clutch, back on gas there is a delay in the acceleration coming on; seems like the rpms continue to drop some more, then the acceleration kicks in. It usually also does this on the 3rd to 4th shift, but not on 4-5 and 5-6.

The first time this happened, I thought I had hit the rev limiter, even though the tach did not even get into the red area (shifted right at or just before 9K). My thoughts are:

1. The rev limiter is kicking in (so close to my putting the clutch in, rpm drop seems to come from engaging clutch), even though the tach doesn't get past 9K on the display

2. The clutch is slipping, although there is no smell

3. The SC check valve isn't responding fast enough (slow transient response)

Any thoughts on this?

If the clutch is slipping, when you give it gas, the rpm will go up and you won't get anywhere... it appears that your rpm is still kinda dropping when you give it gas, so I don't think it's the clutch.

I have the same thing happen to me. Kind of like a turbo lag.

I figured it was probably the CV. At least it's not as bad as the previous version; also, it only seems to be a problem when it's humid.

I don't understand why Wesmaster doesn't have this problem - maybe he shifts slower than me and his CV can keep up
