i nearly always engine brake and rpm match downshifting when coming to lights or going down hill.

True, but they're talking about decel. I believe as long as you're over 1000 rpm w/ no throttle input there will be no fuel to the injectors.

I've datalogged this on my Evo. With the throttle closed on decel, the injectors stay off until about 1500 rpms.

No fuel if in gear and off throttle.
