Default Coilover install, how long before an alignment?

I am going to install my new coilovers today and drop the car about 1.0 to 1.5 inches and I was wondering how long I needed to wait before I get the S2000 aligned? Would five or six days and about 75 miles do the job?

I would like to take it in as soon as I can, but I have always heard that you have to wait after installing new springs or coilovers.

Thanks for the info.

set it to the high/low you want, then drive it a few miles so it can settle. If it looks good, go get the alignment. You don't have to wait for a few days with coilovers.

Some may have different experiences, but springs will settle for a couple hundred miles. Getting an alignment too soon is a waiste.

Personally...my opinion is that 75 miles is not very much time to allow the springs to settle.

Also, don't forget, to do coilovers right you need to get the car corner balanced. Otherwise your car is like a chair with one leg too short...it is almost impossible to get the height adjustment even without corner balancing.

I have personally waited for around 250 or so miles after installation on all of my coilovers before having the car corner balanced and aligned.

During this time, I try to work the suspension rather than just commuting.

Some of you may laugh ... but I have a question:

What is corner balancing?

Thanks for the info guy's, so I guess I should wait for about 250 miles then. Aren't you guys concerned about driving the car while it is out of alignment? Wouldn't it wear your tires, pull to one side or the other? How bad is it going to handle before I get it aligned?

Thanks

You will need to drive with extra care. The handling will be off (in fact some have had second thoughts after the install because of how bad the handling feels). The car will probably pull, feel twitchy, become unsettled at acceleration and deceleration, etc. You may experience some slight extra tire wear, but we are only talking 200-250miles...nothing major.

But all will be right after the alignment and corner balancing.

And I will respectfully disagree that corner balancing is only for racers...the full potential of the coilover will not be acheived otherwise. If you don't corner balance, then you might as well have gotten some decent lowering springs instead for a lot less money (and possibly have better handling to boot).
