if it's below freezing Honda (and Exxon/Mobil TSTL) strongly recommends that you switch to 5w-40

you might want to try and give it A TINY bit of throttle the first time you try and start the car. Otherwise, it might be electrical.
so get 5W 40
leave the key in for a bt
and some gas when im turning it on

I think the OP said it starts but then it cut right off.
battery is only needed to start the car and not needed to keep it running.

but i have a qwick question

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=358505
it says that it should work untill 0 degrees,
where i live right now is only about 25 degrees fahrenheit

(-5 degrees Celsius)

so the 10W 30 not below freezing temp. but when its warmer it turns on with out any problems first try

Also, if the change in temp was rather drastic (50s one day, 30s the next) it'll take a while for the ECU to adjust and compensate for the cold starts. After a few days, it'll be better.

When it's REALLY cold out, it takes mine 2 tries usually. Been like that since I first got it.

Why dont you try using 0W-30 oil weight. I'm pretty sure it will flow better then 10W-30 and 5W-40 and still offer the same protection.
correct me if I'm wrong here.

I use german castrol 0w-30, great stuff.

It gets down below -30 celsius (-22 farenheit) up here and I never have a problem cranking the car over even on the coldest days.

I find it funny how some of you guys are complaining about -5 (23 farenheit) we would kill to have those temperatures during a Canadian winter!

I also want to point out that a lot also depends on whether you're using a conventional or synthetic oil. For instance, even a 10w-30 synthetic is going to have a cold pour point below about -40 so it wouldn't be an issue with any temperatures you'd be seeing throughout the winter.
