Where the curves for the respective gears cross is also the optimum shift point - not always at the redline although for a revvy little unit like the S2K I rather suspect it is close to the redline.
They do not cross on the S2K, at least in 1st, 2nd and 3th. Should shift at the rev limiter for maximum traction, and thus, acceleration.

Where are the cheapest S2Ks in Europe before taxes?? Wanna order one and have diplomatic tax free status.
Honda has a policy of charging the same for the S2000 everywhere in Europe, excluding taxes. I believe that Belgium may have the most favourable tax system. But I'm not sure. Try posting in the European forum.

In the EU weight specs are regulated and European constructirs have to report according to these regulations (which BTW scales in the 2.7 and S at 1335kgs and 1370kgs respectively). Unfortunately I cannot find an equivalent number for the S2000.
I've only just come across this thread ('cos we were having similar discussions in the Uk and someone pointed us here)

I've just found the bit of paper I made my original purchase short list on in July. One of the bits of data I collected was the power to weight ratio for each car (bhp per tonne) ...

TVR Chimaera 4.5 = 273
Boxster S = 218 (I think - can't read my writing!)
S2000 = 191
Boxster = 179
Z3 3.0 = 173
Lotus Elise = 159
Audi TT 225 = 159
Alfa Romeo Spider 3.0 = 155

Is this information of any value?

Pete

P.S. I'm still on for a visit to Dallas 24th - 31st October if anyone's going to be around

----------------------------------
Boxster S = 218
S2000 = 191
----------------------------------
Your Boxster S "weight to power" seems to be wrong (or is it the S2000 figure that is wrong). Here's thew weight and power for the two cars:
Boxster S = 1295kg, 185kW (250hp)
S2000 - 1259kg, 178kW (240hp)

As you can see the "weight to power" is in facour of the Boxster S, but only by about 1%, not 10% as you have in your list.

ps. "weight to power" figures are a very loose aproximation of car's straiglhine performance. You need to look for the area under the power curve (and just just at the peak) just like Luis did.

I've driven all 3 cars and my conclusion when comparing all 3 is the following:

Don't forget these numbers S2000 owners. The guy in the Porsche is out about another Four Grand in the first twelve months of ownership. But as someone else already mentioned, they are both beautiful. I feel the Honda Engineers (actually the NSX team) made a stunning achievement with the performance and price of the S2000.
