I'm going to check into what, if any, legal recourse people would have if one of the products they bought with a warranty from comptech were to fail.
That depends on how they go out of business, but in general you are basically SOL. That's always a hazard that has to be considered when you buy something.

Actually, people put a price on that every time they decide (or don't decide) to buy from the more expensive company.
Exactly.

People paid for the warranty and customer service... if they no longer can get what they bargained for, then technically, Comptech owes them.

IF the company is gone/out of buisness, those people are SOL. You can't get money or parts from a defucnt company. Like trying to squeeze blood from a rock. Sucks!

Ya I like the idea of someoen making the stencil to reproduce the mounting hardware, being its about 500 a pop, would be good money for someone to take over, but sad to see comptech go.

Perhaps you are right. Getting a civil judgement on a bankrupt or non-existant corporation isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Our only hope is that Comptech tries to do the right thing for their customers. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they no longer care what their customers think though.

In the business world, nothing could be further from the truth. As someone posted before, at this point the only people Comptech considers that they owe are their creditors. They didn't even update their website so that show how much they care about their customers.

Very sad.

FYI

I have confirmed this with CT. It is a fact. They will be selling everything to satify their obligations to their creditors.

Crap...this totally sucks...

All the people who have warranties are indeed owed something from the company. But ... if there are no assets, then too bad. If they liquidate the company and there are still assets remaining, then those probably will go into a fund to pay off warranty claims. But most likely, when they liquidate they will have a negative amount of money, and people will already be squabbling for their share.

This all gets into the details of how the company was organized, who owns it, what its current financial status is, etc. etc.

Yeah, which is why I bascially came to the realization that even if the people have a valid claim, which they would, collecting is going to be either too expensive to fight or impossible. Man, that really stinks.

Looks like I'll be doing a big fat CANCEL on that supercharger order I placed 2 weeks ago. I'm not comfortable having something as expensive and intricate as a supercharger without any customer service support, warranty, or replacement parts if needed.
