Default Comptech ESM

Just an FYI - they've posted pricing and a "soon to be released" on their site.

Wonder if that's the same device I hooked Shad up with (thanks to E30M3 Stan) when I was dissatisfied with their POS check valve set-up. Hope they plan to supply that with their SC kits in the future along with updating all the kits already out.

BTW, If it is indeed the same device I suggested to them, it can be had for about 1/2 the price from the mfg. Split Second
Maybe Comptech will refine it by dressing it up in a real nice billet aluminum box

RT -

refresh my memory: what do you currently have for boost "protection" for the ECU - ghostbooster?

I remember when you were messing around with that splitsecond product but I got the impression that you ended up not using it. Any particular reason you found the VC1 unsatisfactory?

BTW, I am emailing Mike B. about their ESM; I'll let ppl know what he says.

thanks for the reply, RT. That's interesting, because I thought you weren't using the VC1.

Aside from the fact that the check valve occasionally acts up (like today), I am starting to wonder what it's lifetime will be - it is after all, a mechanical device and probably not being used for it's intended purpose.

I did send an email to Mike B. early this afternoon, but have not received a reply. Among other things, I asked (assuming they are using the VC1 device) what value comptech was adding that justified
the 2X price of the device. If I haven't gotten an email reply by tomorrow mid-afternoon, I will give them a call.

Unfortunately, I am a lazy SOB and have not gotten around to building a ghostbooster. If comptech has made it easy enough to install (ie, all hardware, nice instructions, wires terminated, identified mounting location, etc.) I may buy their unit. Otherwise, I may buy the splitsecond product.

rock, regardless, if the check valve is acting up or not, you won't believe how much smoother the transitions are with an electronic solutions. Once you run one, you can stand driving the car with the check valves again. The Bay Area Boys can vouch for me on that! Back when Comptech suspected the electronic solutions were causing the bracket failures, Shad asked us to switch back to the check valves (in fact, he even posted a warning of some sort on this board that Warranties were going to be void if we continued to run the electronic solutions ) but I could only take it for about a week. Thought I was going to puke every time I drove the car! It sucked, and yes it was hooked up correctly. The best non-electronic solution was actually the black aluminum block check valve with an RT custom modified diaphragm (right Harry?) .
Rock, do yourself a huge favor and get an electronic solution of some sort on that bad boy and stop the puking! That goes for any and all of you forced induction brethren.

Well, I just need to get off my a** and do one or the other

Heard back from Mike B. - he says that he is not familiar with the splitsecond product.

In addition: "We aren't reselling someone else's product, but rather we have contracted with a company to built this part for us. We have also submitted it to CARB for smog certification and we've applied for a patent on it.....We have discussed making the piece available as an upgrade at a reduced price but a final decision hasn't been made yet.
