Thank you all for your insights. What is the boot made of?

Mine is finally starting to break in and easier to put on. The only thing I dont like about it, is that it sits in my trunk and gives me no room to put anything in there. Not that I really put anything big in there anyways, only my baseball bag. But even that won't fit with the boot in the back. I only leave it in there because I never know when I might want to use it. I think its somekind of hard-ass leather-like plastic.

I only use mine when I dont need the trunk space. If I use it, I let it sit in the sun for about 10-15 minutes and then the vinyl becomes very pliable and it takes about a minute to put it on. I start by attaching the straps then it doesnt move around and scratch anything. Attach the buttons and then tuck it in the back. Simple.

I've had my S for two months now, I put mine on for the first time this weekend. After hearing all the horror stories of how hard it was to put on, and take off, and that it wouldn't stay down.... well, I had no problems at all!

It went on (the first time) in about 1 minute, I took it off in about 30 seconds, and it stayed put at speeds up to 120....

So, I guess I'll start using it more often, I like the way it sort of finishes off my car's looks.

Here's trick for putting it on:

Lay in place. Attach elastic straps. Make sure the front edge is below (not laying on) the 4 male studs on the car all the way across the car. Now line up the 4 clips one or two at a time and PUSH on the BACK EDGE of the boot and the snaps will just slide on. You DON'T need to even touch the snaps themselves or stick your hand underneath the boot. It's literally a SNAP.

When you remove it, you will have to slip your hand underneath to get to the snaps but DON'T pull on the snaps. You actually PUSH the boot forward, SQUEEZE the knob on the snap and THEN, when the snap is loose pull backwards. If you pull backward on the snap it's almost impossibe to squeeze them to unsnap them. You are working against yourself.

EXCELLENT INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!

This is exactly what I do. It's easier when it is warm outside and almost as easy when it is colder.

It is hard to put on the first time, but if you put it on and let it stay for about a day or so to give it time to stretch, it will be easy to put on from then on. I also get mine on in about 45 sec. Almost never drive top down w/o it.

I've had my S for 3 weeks and I've installed the boot 3 times so far. Tonight after putting it on I noticed a little scratch in my paint right where the back of the boot slips in. Is that from the boot? I wouldn't think (being careful not to let it slide on the paint) it would scratch!! I'm sure the boot was on the paint a few times but I was very careful.

I've never used it.
Mine's a daily driver.
I would be putting it on/off twice a day
And what would I do if caught in rain on the way home?
And I like to use my trunk carrying useful things - like my briefcase.
