The Saner bar gets the job done on a budget. That and an alignment based on the English Spec do wonders for the car. Ajjra - only got to Camden once last year, I like the lot there though. Give the Nassau Col lots a try if you have a chance, very big courses (though bumpy). I'll have to wait till I get home to let you know the rims (AS.... can't remember) They are no longer manufactured if I recall correctly. If I were buying now I'd do some research on whether you can get the 04 wheel and tire, and if it works out of the box on our car (gearing changes etc, notwithstanding)?

Even with the fact that my 17's are about the same weight as the stockers, the weight is on the outside and is a (slight) detriment. The thing to do when upsizing is get lighter wheels (i.e. $$$$). I couldn't afford that, and really am not as concerned for the street as the car is intended more for the autocross and track, street racing doesn't appeal to me.

I've never heard of anyone getting ticketed for messing around in a parking lot (an empty lot, that is). The worst thing that'd happen is the cops'd ask you to leave.

I have no experience here to speak otherwise...but it would be my assumption that in the face of cops aggressive stance against street racing, etc. that were a cop to see someone running an S2000 (or likely any automobile) in what would otherwise be a public parking lot (secluded or otherwise)...that cop would act in a non-supportive manner. Again, that is only my guess. I'm sure there are many who can reply here that they have been "caught" and cops merely shrugged off the driver's effort to learn about their car as a positive thing. Certainly, I have enjoyed many a snowy evening with my old CRX during college at VA Tech yanking the e-brake in an empty parking lot. But I never had a cop come upon me either. Ultimately, I believe it would be best to inquire very directly with your local police department as to how this might best be accomplished. Remember again, a parking lot is a public lot...AND...privately owned. So you would find yourself balancing between an issue of public safety (including that of your own...and cops are supposed to see to that safety as well) and the additional balance of an issue of private property of which its owner might well not desire to assume the liability that might occur were something to happen to your vehicle, you, or some innocent by-stander.

Just food for thought...

has anyone spun out an MY04? it seems everyone mods to 17 or bigger wheels and lower profile tires on vintage stooks... with the potenza RE050's, 17s, and a softer tail it would be interesting to see what situation would cause a stock MY04 to break traction, fish tail, spin out???

i feel pretty confident in my '04, but reading some of these posts makes me wonder how much tighter the steering is and how much stiffer the rear suspension is in the vintage stooks...

A cop doesn't have the right to do anything to you in a private parking lot. Their jurisdiction to ticket only extends as far as the owner of that lot allows. For instance, if my friend owned the lot, I could do 130mph all day in the lot and never get a ticket. Donuts, powerslides, burnouts - you name it - it's all legal if you're not on public property (ie, streets). Most cops would probably ask you what you're doing but I doubt they'd go through the hassle of getting an owner on the phone to ask him/her if you had permission. Even in that event, most owners are probably just going to say (at worst) "Stop, please"....
