Default considering 00/01 s2k

hello there,
I am new to the s2ki forums (obviously). I own an 06 sti with a few mods, making about 280 to the wheels... Looking to purchase an 00/01 s2k for my fiancee (well, and me too). I've been a big fan of the car since it came out. I have a couple questions (yes, I know, "search" button but it's late). How do big guys fit? I'm 6'8, but to put it in perspective, I have no problems fitting in the STI. Second, what is there to look for, common problems, with the 00/01 models. I am leaning towards an 01 just to avoid the first model year issues, but it's nice to know what to look for. Timing belt at 60K correct? I have my eye on an 01 with higher mileage (118K) but full service records through the dealership. I'm usually hesitant about high mileage like that, but it's a honda, right?? It's straight, no accidents, clean title.... Just highway mileage. Any known isssues witht he higher mileage cars? I really appreciate the help, I honestly want to buy the car tomorrow, it'll take a little convincing (cough cough....her) but I want to get it this weekend. Cheers!!

The S2000 doesn't have a timing belt.

If you know the history of the car and that it's been well cared for, there's no reason to expect problems. You probably want to have the valve spring retainers inspected (better yet, do it yourself), just in case the car was over reved by the previous owner. With the early cars the damage from an over rev isn't usually apparent until some time after the incident, but you can see the damage easily, and by catching the problem before the engine drops a valve, you can save yourself some grief and expense. Other than the retainer check (do a search to find out what to look for), as long as the car has been well cared for, you should be OK.

Any chance of finding a car with a little lower mileage?
