Considering going from 04STi to S2k
I don't know if people saying the sti is such a fast car have even ridden in one. They're what, a 13 second car? I understand that the OP had a heavily modded one, but the sti isn't that much quicker than an s2000 stock for stock. a 4.77 gearset and some vafc tuning will put you in the low 13s, and that will cost you only 1500 or so.
Superchargers are cool but you should consider riding in one first before buying. They are slower than stock up until vtec due to parasitic loss and extra weight. Yes, the peak power sounds nice but a turbo'd car is going to walk all over you. If you're used to the pull of a turbo, you might want to ride in both setups to see what you like best.
Oh, and the car is around 2800 pounds. You can easily take out 100-150 pounds out of the car with single exhaust, and gutting the trunk. This will make up for the weight of the blower. I had over 200 pounds out of my car at one point with a 4.77 rear end, and it was a blast!

I worked at State Farm for four years. Insurance was almost identical between the two. Why bother eating the depreciation on two cars if money is an issue? You're going to end up losing financially... and if you plan on modding, this car is NOT a cheap one to tinker around with.

I'm not going to be upside down on the car if that's what you mean. Although I have notice that S2ks seem to depreciate ALOT.
I dunno... it's up to you. I sold my 03 Celica to buy my 05 S because I couldn't stand driving a 4-seater anymore. It was a good lesson how badly you get screwed over financially every time you switch cars.
500hp? get a mustang, the S2000 isnt a drag racer. If youre that concerned about power you're really not one thats going to appreciate the refinement of the S2000 as a total package. Just being straight up with you so you dont end up dissapointed
S2K is actually at the to pof the list in terms of residual value (aka it doesn't depreciate a lot). 7 year old S2Ks still sell for ~50% of the msrp with decent mileage.
And the differential isn't made from glass. AP2s had an upgraded unit and you can pick up a reinforced aftermarket housing thats even stronger still, along with new final drive gears for a little over a grand.

I am parting out my STi to put down a good chunk on the S.I'm just trying to get lower payments. I respect the car. I was just wondering what it's capible of. Can't find a used S for under 25k? I've seen about 7 for around 22-23.5k. In great shape. I guess it depends on where you live.
