Probably because of the glass rear window? Wasn't 03 the first year for that?

Some people focus on a meaningless number. Others know that Honda moved the power band down about 1k rpm in the F22C, so there's no need to rev to 9k. Is it better to rev to 9 and have no power before 6k, or better to have the power sooner with a lower redline? People that focus on the redline generally have no idea of the reasons why it is what it is on both engines.

You're correct, the S2000 wasn't designed around a 9k redline - that is ridiculous. VTEC allows an engine to have an extended redline, but 9k is pretty arbitrary - its where the F20C stops making power and where engine internals are travelling fast enough to reach their limits.

'03s have the upgraded banjo bolts


(some of the later production '02s have this as well, but shopping for an '03 leaves no question about it)

I thot I absolutely had to have a GPW AP2 2006 or newer so was out searching hard, high and low and found one for $21,000 with jes 9k miles on it in new condition but then I also found a model year 2000 AP1 in silverstone with 57K miles and that's the one that I bought.

What changed my mind ?

It was in mint-fabulous condition and just looked beautiful and had $1,700 worth of tasteful mods already installed including 17" SSR wheels, puddymod mount with NRG engine torque damper, Tein Springs, Cusco Strut bar and lower tie bar, K&N FIPK intake, Greddy TCi exhaust, Rays Lugs, and every factory option that was available. That plus the fact that every service record and detail accompanied the car in a folder clinched. . .not to mention the price on it was $10k less than the 2006. Super great car for a great price !

End story ? Even when you think you gotta have a certain year S2K it really doesn't matter becasue Any S2000 is the RIGHT S2000 ! !
