Default Considering purchasing a 2000, S2000, Input?

Hello,

I'm new to the site. I'm very close to purchasing a 2000 S2000. The S has 44K miles, verified by car fax. Three people have own the car in the past. The first two owner combine put 20K on the car's third own put 24K in 12 months. I'm purchasing a car from a car broker. The car appears to be in awesome condition. The plastic window has been replaced, new tires, KN cold air intake. Everything seem tight, I do notice that the tranny is noisy at low rpm, especially during deceleration. I plan on have the car inspected on Wednesday.

My question: Concerns that I should know about this year (2000)?

The car is priced at $11k, The broker is going to have the noise problem looked at by his mechanic and will fix what is wrong if there is anything wrong. I've read the past post about whirling noises, a bit concerning.

Please advise.

You can get a newer year for that kind of money with the same or maybe less mileage. Although that isn't too bad of a deal. Personally I would find a better deal.

I was hoping to find better pricing on a S2000, but in the Portland area the pricing are high. most owners with 00, 01, with 70K miles are asking $12K to 14K. It all seems crazy to me.

Yeah area does have a lot to do with things. I don't know if you would be willing to travel for it but it seems like a shame to settle for an 00 or 01 when you could get an 03 for that price. But like I said before, it isn't too bad of a deal. It does have pretty low mileage considering its year.

dont settle man, just take your time. i just got a 2002 with 70K for 10,000. it even came with a J's racing 60RS titanium exhaust. good deals come to those that wait. i was searching for about 8-10 months.

The noise on decel is completely normal, its the clutch buzz.. look it up.

As for the price.. that price is VERY acceptable? People expecting to pay 10k for a clean car are dreaming. The year means nothing to me honest.. I would take a mint 00 with 20k miles anyday over an 05 with 90k miles and not as clean.

Clean low mileage 00 and 01 models are still worth 14-16k if they are mint.

I don't think there's really anything you should be particularly aware of. In my opinion, if the car is mint, it's a great deal. I picked up a MY00 with 20k miles on it and I love it.

clutch buzz is normal. If the shifting feels notchy, that's normal.
