Considering purchasing a 2000, S2000, Input?
Many people felt that the 2000 model was more prone to oversteer and even snap oversteer than the later cars. It's not really a problem but it is something you need to keep in mind when you start driving it, especially if you're used to driving FWD.
I paid 16k for a mint 2002 Suzuka Blue with 15k miles on it this past July. Then prices started falling like crazy.
It's a pretty good deal but don't settle quite yet. If you're willing to fly out to another state and drive it home, that's what I did, then you can find some sweet deals here on s2ki in the For Sale section.

guess the owner of this car was dreaming.... (which is the car i think gospeed bought)
he owns a 00, his reason for defending the prices. if someone pays 14-16k for a 00-01 they're out of their mind, or the car has tons of mods that they wanted to pay for.

I still say 14-16k for a MINT.. and that means no scratches or dings/dents with 10-30k miles on it.
I've been doing some west coast searches, haven't come across a better deal... yet. Send me a link if you find a better deal. It sounds like there isn't anything to be concern about with the 00 model, except the possible over steering. Good Advice, newbees or like me tend to push their new toys a bit hard at first.
As I mentioned, the owner has the car at the shop having the buzz checked out. So far he claims he will fix what every the problem is at not cost to me. So I might get a new clutch out of the deal.
The car:
2000 with 44K, K&N Cold air intake, after market rims, new tires, replaced plastic window and a middle of the road Pioneer stereo.

dont settle man, just take your time. i just got a 2002 with 70K for 10,000. it even came with a J's racing 60RS titanium exhaust. good deals come to those that wait. i was searching for about 8-10 months.
They burn oil. Soft top might show tear signs. If the window was replaced, check if the job was done properly (implies changing parts of or the entire soft top). Check if the new window folds correctly when unfolding the top (can be a PITA if it doesn't). Check that the new tires are the right size (225 rear if S02s, 245 if other brand).
And then, enjoy 9k rpm.
