What do I look for in the folding of the rear window? I thought all Vtec burned oil?

This is the most important difference!

The 2000 is so "RAW" that it doesn't even have a clock. Seriously

sorry for my opinion, but my friends s2k was just so "raw" compared to mine. i'm saying anything bad, and if i do offend some, mea culpa. but i love all the "refinements" of the s2k over the years except the MY08, who the hell needs a tire pressure sensor? but yeah , the MY00 was oober raw!!!

No offense taken. Some of us love the rawness of our early cars, just as much as some of you prefer the refinement of the newer cars. AP2 owners use to get angry when AP1 owners said that their cars were more raw. Nice to see that we now have some more mature and sensible AP2 owners out there. The earliest AP2 owners were jealous, which as I'm sure you know and can see, is just dumb. Some like it raw, some like it refined, and some like to deny that there is any difference at all. LOL, go figure.

People here make that claim all the time, but it is a false claim. My MY00 AP1 hasn't used any oil in the 9 years it's been on the road, and the car spends time in VTEC every time it's driven. You have to take the stuff you read here on S2kI with a grain of salt, becaues lots of people confuse their own speculation with facts and experience.

i want all the refinements of the AP2, + the upgrades of the CR, but with the AP1 F20.

someone work on that for me

edit: also on the oil thing... my '03 burns a reasonable amount of oil, and from reading on s2ki many many ap1 owners burn oil. red you may be more the exception than the rule.

I have a MY 00 and really enjoy it. Although it is not my DD. For me it is a toy so the more raw the better.

What I do with the rear window is when I open it I stop a little past half way and get out and make sure it is folding properly. A bit of a pain in the a$$ but it saves a lot of issues. It is more of a problem in the winter when the plastic is cold and not as flexible. I other thing I would do is place a black towel in the bottom of the well where the top folds down into. It will save a lot of scatches on it.

Good luck what ever MY you decide on I am sure you will enjoy it.

Edit: My car only burns about 1/2 quart every 3K and it does spend a fair amount of time in VTEC.

I would like to know about the oil burning comment, is this isolated to the 2.0 VTEC?

There has been A LOT of discussion on this topic. There are so many veriables that a straight forward answer is somewhat difficult.

There have been people that reported burning a fairly large amount of oil with them(1 to 1 1/2 quarts per 3K miles). Some people like me burn almost no oil(I may burn -1/2 quart every 3K miles). Some people report burning more oil when they switch to snythetic oil.

The engine was designed to burn some oil and is considered "normal". But how the engine was broken in, how it has been maintained and driven all will play a roll.

Have you done a compression and leakdown test on the car? If all of those numbers are good then the car should be fine.

Whatever MY car you buy make sure you check the oil often(at least once a week) untill on "learn" how much oil your particular car uses.

Good Luck.
