My friend who drives a miata said he took off the convertible soft top and got a fiberglass hard top cuz it sheds a lot of pounds of the car.. Is this True?

depending on what kinda ht you get and what its made off you can save some weight. weight of soft top with frame and motors is about 65lb.

I think there is thread dedicated to the weight of softtop and oem ht and various other ht.

Here it is: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=606011&st=0

Apparently you save about 20lbs with OEM hardtop.

Just remove the soft top motors if you want to save weight, removing the soft top kills resale if you ever plan on selling. The motors are the most weight and can be put back easily.
