To the OP, cant say for sure for the miata, but I know that the softtop with motor weighs more than the cwings hardtop I use to have. But the difference is negligible.

Thats not true. The motors are very small and do not weigh very much at all. Most of the weight is in the framing/canvas and window (if it has glass). You will notice a difference without it on the car (feels like driving with a 1/4 tank of gas as opposed to a full tank
