depending on what kinda ht you get and what its made off you can save some weight. weight of soft top with frame and motors is about 65lb.
i guess you never weighted any of the parts yourself.

i did a hardtop only conversion myself, the oem hardtop with side catchers was about 52lbs.

i weighted everything when i pulled my soft top. everything was 97 lbs, frame, top, motor brackets.

another thing is what people said about the motors weights a lot, bs. both motors weights under 10 lbs. it's the brackets and the metal frames weights a lot... the glass felt pretty heavy too

Thats not true. The motors are very small and do not weigh very much at all. Most of the weight is in the framing/canvas and window (if it has glass). You will notice a difference without it on the car (feels like driving with a 1/4 tank of gas as opposed to a full tank
rofl, amen.

pulling all the plastic and carpet like that =a bunch too. I have a bag with all plastic parts in it from the interior that is over 40 lbs... add that to a 70 lbs soft top and you will notice. lighter wheels can save you 20 lbs over stock AP1s don't know about Ap2s probably more depending on what you get. switch your driver seat to a race bucket and take out the passenger seat, that's about 45 more pounds together. so now we are at 175 lbs weight reduction. spare tire and tool kit=35 lbs now we are at 210 lbs reduction lightweight battery=15lbs so knock off another 20 lbs almost.. 230 lbs, do you need cruise control? no.. throw that away. don't need spark plug cover.. 2 pounds right there.. lightweight coilovers, brake calipers, now we are starting on something.

anyway yeah.. removing JUST the softtop and motors is around 70 lbs with the plastic rear window, more with the glass.. add a CF hardtop and you save 40 lbs.
