Default Convertable top button issues

First time poster looking for some info......Just bought a 2000 model and I've noticed that when I go to pop the top about every three to four times I do the top doesn't pop. I press push the button once more...nothing. I press and hold again, and it works. I'm wondering if this is a faulty switch or something more severe. The top has been replaced, but was done before I owned it with one that has a glass rear window and what seems like a thick cordura/maybe something more suitable top. The top seems solid, but the non-opening has got me abit nervous.....anyone out there having similar issues? Should I be worried? ....one more thing...it seems to also happen when closing....but not every time.....

My best guess is is the switch on the hand brake. Next time it happens, release and set the hand brake a few times, and see if that doesn't work. You can clean the contacts or just replace the switch if that seems to be the problem. It's really not too hard to get to and relative cheep, $6.00-$8.00 if I remember right.

I'd guess the hand brake as wqell. If it's not compleetely down it will prevent the top operation.

Congrats on your new S. Enjoy it to the max and post some pics of your new baby !
