Yes, I've noticed that in the .pdf version of the MY07 manual, the paragraph which talks about not operating the top with the engine running has been deleted.
I am referring to page 84 of the MY04 Owner's Manual for European, Australian and N. Zealand models. Owner's Manual P/N: 00X32-S2A-7500 printed 2004.
I agree that, had it been a real no-no to operate the top with the engine running, Honda would have engineered an interlock.
Just curious as to why they'd say something like this. Safety perhaps?

Probably a poor translation of some of the origional warnings.

In the manual for '00, on page 71 there is a section with a heading "Notice." The third item in this list is "Do not lower or raise the top while the engine is running."

I suspect it's a "extension" of sorts to prevent you from trying to put the top up while the car is moving. Or maybe it's to keep you from putting the top up/down while you're sitting at a stop light, or any other place that the car would be running and you should be paying attention to traffic instead of playing w/ the top.

That was probably the first S2000 user manual published. Probably more prone to errors in translation/meaning of the info being put out. It appears to have been changed in subsiquent manuals (at least by 05).

Interesting, I also only operate the top with the engine running, and I'm gonna keep doing it that way!

Well, this is interesting. On page 72 of the OM for my '01, middle top of page, it states "Do not lower or raise the top while the engine is running." First time I've noticed that in almost 7 years of ownership. I don't know why this warning is there. There is already a "lockout" that won't allow top operation unless the parking brake is on.
