WOW! You guys are @$$holes its not even funny... I come on here asking for advice, like maybe this situation has happened to you and your experiences, but i guess 90% of the people on here really don't care about anyone and just try to make them feel like crap.

IBTL
No, it actually has happened to me. His car, his insurance, etc

I was not allowed to modify the car in any way. I was lucky enough to buy OEM alloy wheels for it.

His solution? Buy a car and do whatever I please. Provided I had the budget for all of it. And that is exactly what I did. I bought a '96 Honda Accord EX that was a 5spd, then did ~$12k worth of modifications to it in the course of a year. He commented several times about my putting money into it but he had no control because I was paying for gas, insurance, mods, etc.

My suggestion to you is to:
1) Stop whining
2) Start paying for your own insurance, gas, car
3) Create a budget and present it to your Dad showing you can pay for the above and mods
3) Mod it however the hell you want

If you cannot meet those conditions, then you have no business modifying the car.
