Corvettes and "spring wedges"
I have read here (and heard elsewhere) about S2000s being delivered with the spring "inserts" being left in place.
I was reading on the 'vette mailing list - same thing is happening to them. On the 50th aniversary cars and optional on others starting for '03 is a new active suspension. GM is shipping these cars with wedges stuck in the springs. These are the first 'vettes shipped this way, and you guessed it - the techs don't know to remove them. Since almost no one got to test drive a car with the new suspension (sounds like buying an S2000) they didn't know what to expect. Imagine the surprise of the rough ride no matter how you adjust the suspension
On an S2000 note, I got to test drive another one today. Still like I remember it. Of course, the sales guy was complaining about my driving the whole time. I wanted to just drop him off and go by myself. What a pain - sure makes it hard to tell what the car would be like at 10/10ths, or 9/10ths when they complain when you drive 5/10ths..... I would have settled for 8/10ths or so. Got SOLO seat time in several BMW Z3's today, much more fun was had by me and I got a better feel for the car. More interior room, motor pulls better w/o downshifting (but no Vtec growl and 9k redline) - the S2000 handles better - how much better is still a mystery due to the sales guy
