I have the voodoo shift knob and i like it. No complaints here. It makes shifting alittle easier/better. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Love it!!!

For a completely different approach:

This one is a bit lighter than stock, I believe, but if your transmission is shifting smoothly it should be no problem. Advantages: some people (OK, I) like the barrel shape, as it nestles right into the bend of the middle and ring fingers. Also, it can be made to sit very low. When I'm
feeling lazy, I rest my arm and wrist on the center console, and shift with fingers only.

Disadvantages: it's light. It's uncomfortable if you slap your hand down off the wheel for a shift, so I imagine it'd be bad if you race a lot. And I admit it: it's ugly.
I love the look of that, but not crazy about it being lighter. I am actualy considering modifying my leather wrapped 02' shift knob because I like that shape. But, then it would be lighter as well due to the extra material removed.

^^ I'm not actually sure it's lighter, I'm just guessing. In any case, it's close. If you like the look and feel of that shape, I advice going for it -- just change your tranny fluid at the same time. I don't like the look (it wouldn't be so bad without the Allen bolts on top), and I'm still pleased.

The Voodoo pearl knob is perfect in every way. I've had it for 2 years and love it. it still looks brand new. It's cheap too.

Does the Voodoo thread on like the OEM knob or does it use a set screw (allen) to keep it in place?

My voodoo knob has the correct threads to screw onto the shifter just like the stock knob. It's made specifically for our cars, no allen screws required. In fact, my stock knob wouldn't really tighten up properly without a nut underneath and my voodoo doesn't need it. I added the garden hose washer to hold the shift boot up to the knob and it's perfect.

This is a stock perl voodoo on an AP2. Is this short enough for you?

What size drill and tap did you guys use?
Wish I could tell you, but I just have the tools I use for it in a bag! Search around for it though, I have a thread on it somewhere that states the size drill bit and tap I use.

I have a spare knob here, I'll make one for ya
