To CR or not to CR

Don't forget the better steering ratio. And the extra bracing. And the fact you can run the better suspension in stock racing classes. And the bodykit has the benefit of better aero.
I'd definitely go CR if I had to get a new S2000.

I actually had a choice of going with the CR when I was buying my S2k last december and decided to go with the base. For my future mods the CR didn't seem like a wise choice (i.e. Never plan on tracking my car) plus their were a few things I didn't like about it...The front aero, rims, Not a fan of the oem hardtop(will be eventually getting a Mugen or Mugen replica) and the yellow/black seats.
I did get the shifter for the CR and loving it much better then the oem that came with the car(fits much better to the way I shift).

I had the choice and went with an 08 base in Chicane Silver.
CR downsides[*]The top[*]Ricer looks[*]Color, I wanted Silver metallic[*]Sound absorbing material (like it matters)[*]Performance that cn only be accessed on a track[*]Fugly seats
CR upsides[*]Faster steering[*]Suspension[*]Hard tonneau cover
Looks like most people came to the same conclusion. Base!

I like riding with the top down and live in the south where it actually rains, so the CR would be a waste. I could never drive it anywhere in the summer with the top off with out the risk of interior damage from a sudden rain shower. Very often I have to pull over and put the top up due to sudden short summer downpour. Also, having the top off would put some risk to the car from those that would toss a milk shake in it while I was in a store and such. The CR is only suited for that really want a hard top.
