The CR, while lighter than AP2s, is still heavier than AP1

i think the real question is, is the regular ap2 as fast as the cr around a track given the same tires???? and how close actualy are they whe comparing laptimes?

It is not like there is one correct suspension set up that works great at all tracks. Or wing set up
I am looking forward to seeing how well it does in autocross. The hell with what R&T can pull off drag racing with a CR.
Same piece of ground?
Same tires?
Same solar activity?
Well, if the numbers are that close (and I believe they are), even if you can just barely squeeze the CR ahead of a std S....then that is Ok.
IF, the CR was sold at a discount. IF, the CR was recognized as a gutted S.
The PREMIUM that the CR owner pays is having their ride gutted. Having a non-convertible. A gaudy wing. A car I would not want to drive. For that tithe, they receive a VERY slight edge (assuming the universe is in alignment...the right track, driver, tires, etc).
That's cool.
What is uncool, is that in ADDITION to sacrifices above, Honda wants (and convinces) folks to pay more cash for less function.
Yes, the CR can edge out on the right track. Edge out...playing card edge.
But CR owners give up way more than I would ever consider in function for this playing card edge. That is still cool. Diff strokes, diff folks.
Where's it end? Take off the hood and the trunk lid. Take out the pax seat and the dash coverings. Put in a 5 gallon gas tank. Let's reduce that weight and we might get 2 (TWO) playing card edges out of it.
BUT more $$$?
That's where my synapses start burning out.
Let's show pride and admiration for INNOVATION, rather than devolution.
How about making a car that will give ME an advantage over that better driver? The car gives ME support against the guy driving the 2008 americrap model X at the redlight (in the real world as I drive home from working to make the money to buy the S)? A car that has more HP? A car that exploits technology that has evolved over the past 8 years to make a more powerful ride? Keep up with the market? The times? I'd gladly pay the CR 'fee' for another 80hp (assuming all other conveniences are at least maintained...not even asking for an improvement there).

Look, we all know how difficult it is to launch the S2000 consistently. No surprise that the magazine had the same trouble. The trap speed says that this was all in the launch.
