I like the CR. The only problem with most of them is that they are overpriced. Some of you guys need to chill with the remarks. If I had the money I'd get one in Apex blue or GPW.

So why all the belly aching? Don't you have anything better to do than beat up a perfectly good car?? It really gets old and I really appreciate the laughing kids pointing at the CR. A lot of cammaraderie on this board . . . . . . NOT!!!!

A)It was never intended to be a drag racer. If I had wanted a drag racer, I would have built one or bought one.

B)For the fourth time, I have quoted the October 07 issue of Sports Car Magazine (SCCA) when they had a professional driver drive a new 08 S2000 and a new 08 S2000 CR around the Mid Ohio Sports Racing track. As I recall, the article stated that all things being equal, the CR was over two(2) seconds faster per lap with everything being objective and conditions being equal. How much more proof do you need?? For crying out loud!!! The car does everything Honda designed it to do and does it very well for a very reasonable price. Give it rest.

Ruprect,

Have you driven a CR yet?? I think not. Until you do, I wish you would keep your comments to yourself. I have offered to let you drive mine at your convenience to alay any reservations you might have. I don't know how much better it can get than to offer a nay sayer an opportunity to drive my new $ 40K car and still he runs down my choices with his juvenile comments. Personally, I am just sick to death of this kind of crap.

Moderator,

Maybe you should refund my money that I paid to join this forum and ban me. It seems like "Guests" have the right to abuse paying members and cause problems. What kind of environment does that create?? I apologize for the rant, but this wasn't what I signed up for. I thought this was about building up other "members", sharing ideas/ information and promoting our cars.

Thanks, Mike
I love CR's, I would buy one in a heartbeat if I had the money.

I told a friend that when I win the mega millions my cars will be, in this order, a Berlina CR, Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Morgan Aero8, Aerial Atom (Non supercharged for an N/A build project).

I toyed with the idea of trading, but decided that, among other things(9>8), I couldn't afford the car.

I think half of the people on here agree that the slower numbers are just a result of the conditions and driver difference. It is not easy to launch the car, but it should be faster. I think that picture of the kids pointing and laughing was not appropriate, I would like to see everyone with a non-CR laugh at a real track, not a strip..... we aren't Charger owners(who can barely beat us... if at all). Our cars were meant for turns, not a straight line. Real racing has right and left turns and involves using the brakes from time to time, and I know that my AP1 and a base AP2 doesn't do it as well as the CR. The reason it's more expensive is because cheaper cars shouldn't perform better, why spend the extra on a non-gutted S if the gutted one is faster? They make money off the people ho want that extra performance and are willing to pay for it.

It's late and I'm exhausted I hope that wasn't a stupid rant that didn't go anywhere, I'm not proof reading it.

Anyone notice that Car and Driver said their CR has massive understeer? I don't think their test car was properly aligned.

Uh does anyone know what C&D said the cornering braking numbers were?

Also How come none of the AP1 owners said "my bad I thought the AP1 was lighter ,but was WRONG" LOL J/K thanks for posting the weight numbers.

Also sorry if this is off topic ,but does anyone know what the CR wheel weights are? I heard they're lighter than the stock wheels. Thanks!

Don't get offended. Some of the people here who claims the the AP1 is better I'd bet is because they're stuck with it as to that's what they can afford. The CR isn't for everyone. Just remember, this place is quite diversed in age and their intention of the S2k. Some just care about going fast and beating their friend's turbo Colbolt or Evo. I doubt you care about it and neither do I. Go to the local meets and make a few friends that are worth your time.

I seriously thought about trading my AP1 in for an Apex Blue CR but then I had the chance to drive one and honestly, I missed the longer legs of my 9K red line.

I thought it over for another week, and this is all I could come up with. For $40K I was going to loose

A/C (I kinda like A/C but not a deal breaker as I am usually top down)
Soft top (I would miss this)
Full leather seats (Who cares)
Spare tire and tools (I can take mine out too)
Radio (I already gutted mine)
9000 RPM redline! (This I found I can't go without)

But to the good was

~50 Lbs. lighter than my AP1 (How hard would it be to drop 50 Lbs?)
A body kit that I like (Call me crazy)
Slightly stiffer suspension ()
Better factory tires (that only matters for the first couple thousand miles)
Hardtop (I hate hard tops! They are a pain in the ass to me)

So end the end, I decided it was right for me to stick with the AP1 and since I didn't buy a new car, the significant other minds less when I buy other toys or parts

Hardly, I paid more for my AP1 than I would have for an AP2.

It was the only AP1 with low miles, Spoiler, Lip, and side strakes. And it was Honda Certifed.

For $1500 less I could have had an '04 Berlina but I wanted the AP1 more. It was lighter, no delay valve, 9K redline

All this smack about Car and Driver... What do you smackers read? Honda Tuning? Superstreet? (Is that even still around?) Motortrend?

Here are some facts about how C and D does business.

Published test numbers are adjusted for altitude, temperature, and humidity. No way to adjust for test track surface but reviews generally include location of testing and test sufrace conditions if they are relevant.

Acceleration testing is performed by repeating the test a number of times to find the best launch technique. Final numbers are an average of best test runs in both directions.

When C and D does a comparison test, the car with the best performance numbers often does not finish first. They are very clear about what goes into the ranking of cars in a comparison test and always include detailed scores of all ares considered in the ranking. There is always plenty of detail so if you like you can eliminate something like rear seat room or "gotta have it factor" you can do so easily and get your own ranking.

Most cars tested by Car and Driver are provided by the manufacturer, just like most mainstream car mags. But this doesn't mean they always get a top performer. They get everything from tweaked ringers (which they usually spot) to tired media loaners. They often point out cars that seem to underperform and sometimes offer speculation as to the reason.

Not only does Car and Driver perform about the most exacting testing of any car magazine, they run an article every couple of years explaining their testing methods in detail.

And lay off the CR. Its not for most S2000 drivers. But then too the S2000 is not for most drivers in general.
