I primarily use my cupholder to hold my cell phone, wallet, or whatever other small item I might need to place somewhere while driving.

Ok so I'm driving home from Wendy's with 2 small Dr. Peppers in the cup holders, obviously i am shifting like i am have a broken arm to get around the drinks which is fine because it is a short ride. As I am driving home some ghettoed out Neon pulls up next to me with a big loud exhaust and starts revving his engine, being that my sister is in the car i ignore him and we keep going. When we hit the next light the Neon does the same thing. I get annoyed, rev my engine and ignore any pleas from my sister to stop, and as the light turns green instinct kicks in and i drop it into first, as i hit redline i shift into second, my elbow hits my drinks and they explode all over my sister. When we got home and i inspected the damage, fortunately it looks like she took the brunt of the damage, nothing in the center console and nothing on the carpet which made for an easy clean up.
After a little research i found the modifry Cup holder which bolts to either side of the console - it is currently in the mail.
Now i am sure this questions has been asked a million times on S2k forums, but i couldn't find any dedicated topics so here it goes... Has anyone found anything to do with the stock cup holders except hold drinks? Currently i keep my sunglasses in there but i am sure that there is a better/cooler use for them. If anyone wants to share their stories/suggestions/pictures i would appreciate it.

that little slot behind the cup holder fits a pack of cigarettes and a lighter perfectly...i think its supposed to be a coin holder

Yes. Cup holders are horrible. I don't eat in the car, but I sometimes need to carry small drinks. 2 at max.
The best I can do is, for fast food, I ask for those cardboard cup holders from the store and place it on the passenger seat.. of course double lids on it.
For small cups (like small coffee), put it in the cup holder (front cuz it's deeper), stuff the other side with keys, napkins etc.
double lids on it.
And drive carefully.
No straw goes through the lid in the car.
Never spilled a drop

It's really rare that I let a non-water beverage or food in the cabin. If I pick up food, it goes in the trunk.
