They are giving this as the weight of a 2006 car. If the numbers are correct then the 2006's are a lot lighter than my MY00 AP1. Wet weight, with average sized driver, fluids, and a full tank of gas, is over 3,000 lbs. Maybe the crash test cars don't have engines.

Speaking of weight, how many bolts, how difficult, how long does it take, how much difference does it make...

removing the passenger seat?

That sounds more reasonable. Add fluids, gas, and driver and you're over 3k.lbs.

I wish there were an easy way shave about a half ton off the cars weight.

most s2ks are around 2800-2900

i got my 01 down to exactly 2600 lbs by getting a light weight single exhuast, gut the trunk and remove spare and all tools. Also took some other things out. light weight seats... Im extremely happy to have my s2k about 200 pounds lighter than most with some simple weight reduction.

Four bolts. Pretty easy to remove. Pretty heavy (but I never weighed one).

IMO removing the passenger seat for autocrossing or track days is more trouble than it's worth, but we *will* eventually be putting lighter seats in our S2000.

So what you're saying is that hell weighs a little over 3,000 lbs.?
I'd have guessed more.

Weight reduction, the ultimate performance mod.
