Default Cure to a mid-life crisis?

I'm just about to get my first s2000 (used I hasten to add!) and am very excited. It's also my very first soft-top!

I would like to know how others feels about the liveability of this car. I have no doubt that it's an awesome fun drive but how reliable / comfortable is it as a day-to-day drive? Taking the kid to school, commuting to work, doing the shopping.. etc. And as I live in a city with a major precipitation problem (Vancouver BC) how good (ie dry) is the hood??

Thanks.

Congratulations on getting the (new to you) S2000. In 3 short weeks mine has cured my mid-life crisis!

You're planning will get better. The S2K is my daily driver and I'm switching from a Yukon XL. Picking up 4 five gallon water bottles is not part of my daily routine.

The car is great for taking a kid to school. You'll also up their notoriety factor.

We've had a fairly wet April in AR and the car is totally dry. I've had a bunch of British sports cars and the S2K beats them all for fun, reliability and functionality. Enjoy!

The S is my daily driver and it it is both reliable and comfortable. It has more than enough trunk space for my needs (weekly groceries for four). We get plenty of "sunshowers" down here with little warning and I've never had a leak. I assume you are referring to the convertible top when you say "hood."

Thank you for the encouraging feedback... I'm trading in my 7 year old Nissan Pathfinder for this little toy.

We're going to be a household in which my wife's Beetle is going to be our big car!! I can hardly wait...

I'll echo everything said so far, including the mid-life crises part. I've had mine for six weeks as my daily driver, coming from a Ford Expedition, which my wife now drives. The kids love riding in it, and it's certainly true that their notoriety factor has escalated. Only been caught in the rain once, but it was not problem. Go to the FAQ and look at the stuff on treating the top. Get some Porsche Tequipment (which I've been using) or some 303 and you won't have to worry about it.

You'll love the car.

I've driven mine for a year now through an upstate NY winter. Xviper, also a member of the Forums, drives his year round in your neighboring province, Alberta. In fact, he has photos of his car surrounded by snow in the Calgary area. In short, my s2k has been a delightful drive year 'round, although not the best "winter rat" in the world and I wouldn't trade it for anything else at this time. Is it my mid-life crisis car??? Could be, but I don't know anyone who's 110

Yes, the S is a great cure for the mid-life crisis. I thought the TransAm that I traded for the S was the cure but the S has put it into high gear. When I got the S my oldest daughter, who is 28, kidded me about a mid-life crisis. My response was "I was dam proud of it"
I use it as an every day drive and regardless of how hard it has rained the cabin has stated bone dry. Good luck and lots of fun!

Mine is only a toy, not a daily driver. As you have noted, it's a hoot to drive and I use it on special occations to keep it special. You won't be sorry!!!

My S2000 is my mid-life crisis cure, my get well present, and was my birthday present to myself!!

Have never regretted the purchase in the 1.75 years and 30,000 play miles that I have owned mine!!! And to think, its not my daily driver... where did all those miles come from?

This car has certainly been the cure for my mid-life crisis. Well...the car and the 20 year old supermodel I drive around in it.

Just kidding dear.
