has anyone had custom exhaust silencers made? i want to get some made that are placed further back than the ones included with my Invidia so that they're not so visible. I also don't want to lose too much sound. Any input is greatly appreciated.

 

When I had an Invidia system I went throught the same thing. Too loud without silencers and too quiet with them. Here is what I did....

I took the silencers and cut the spot weld holding in the center tube. After removing the tube I enlarged the center hole with a die grinder (dremel would work). Work slowly to keep the hole as round as possible. The size of the hole will affect the sound. You could paint them black before installing them. This would make them had to see.

 

Add a resonator instead, silencers at the end of the exhaust is a good way to drop alot of power

 

Isn't it a total crap shoot as to where to install the resonator on an aftermarket exhaust? My understanding is that moving it an inch forward or an inch back would yield totally different results. You'd almost to have access to a garage full of exhausts to do this kind of R & D.
