Thumbs up Custom hood options?... any ideas?

Hey guys, I have been looking for a vented hood but all of them are carbon fibre and are like $600.

Does anyone have any other ideas on what vents i could mold to the stock hood (to not pay the huge price mostly)? Kinda want it to look like the "ts" vented hood.

And well, to be honest, cf doesnt really save that much weight to be of any significance in our cars, at least not the hood.

Any pictures or options would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You can always cut out the vents in the stock hood. There is a DIY somewhere on this site.

You want to mold a hood scoop onto the hood? Do yourself a giant favor and don't do it! Wait until you can swing buying a CF hood and paint it if you want, trying to mold something into your exsisting hood is not going to turn out the way you will like it. You'll have to use "Bondo" or something like to attach it to the hood and it WILL crack in time. Save your money and do it right

Do a search for Hecash's old car. I remember he was one of the first to modify the stock hood with vents.

Mastergrade also had a hood with a front scoop. Much like Amer first photoshop pic. I think it looks terrible, but to each their own.

EDIT: Here it is

There's another one out there. Basically you can cutout the vents from the underside of the hood. Look under your hood and you'll see.

He also had to seach to find someone willing to cut and weld on an aluminum hood.

I know another member who tried shopping around so he could have a one-off hood and any shop willing to touch it wanted BIG $$$ to work on it. A seibon hood was MUCH cheaper. You will have to paint either way.

Find a used Seibon hood and paint it.
