'Customizing' an AP2
So I am done paying for my 05 and I overshot by $5,000 dollars. The S2000 is a great bargain car for the money, making it a popular car. There are close to ten S2000s at my office and while no other is the same color than mine I would like mine to look 'different'.
I have the honda accessories on it as others do, so I am pursuing the aftermarket products.
After doing a lot of research on s2ki I came up with two great upgrades that will make the S2000 look/sound 'different' :
- AP2 catback Mugen exhaust
- Volks CE28N (17's)
The only real performance improvement out there is the comptech supercharger but I am content with the car at the moment. I want to make the car look/sound different but not 'rice'.
If you have 5,000 how will you upgrade your S2000 ?

I TELL YA WHAT.... GIVE ME THE $5k AND I WILL GET YOU SOMETHIN REAL NICE-HAHA. JUST PLAYIN, FOR REAL THOUGH... I WOULD START OUT WITH YOUR INTAKE/EXHAUST AND THEN GRAB YOUR WHEELS, AND YOU COULD GRAB A CARBON FIBER HARD TOP (SICK!). IF YOU FOUND THE RIGHT DEALS, YOU MIGHT EVEN BE ABLE TO GRAB EITHER A CARBON FIBER HOOD OR TRUNK. SICK....SICK.....SICK!

I redid my ducati full carbon fiber and at the end I painted back to its original color. So I am not into replace parts anymore. I will add carbon fiber but I will not replace unless I am after performance.
In regards to the intake, I will eventually go supercharge but not quite yet. That is why I chose exhaust and wheels only.
Once again thank you for the follow up.

Don't forget that if you get rims, it usually looks a little funky unless you lower it. So... possibly budget anywhere from $300 (lowering springs on stock shocks) to $2k (Mad JDM c0iloverz y0!) to make the car look proper on those new shoes.
Personally, $5k will go really fast on this car. I would decide if you want to go for performance or looks.
Looks- Wheels, tires, suspension, front lip, spoiler, etc. etc.. BAM. $5k right there (or so).
Performance- Intake, header, exhaust, straight pipe, gears... there you go.
Oh, and there are probably going to be some old fogies who tell you to "upgrade your skills" by spending some of that cash at a track or auto-x... but don't listen to them. How can you really learn to drive when everything is all perfect and smooth and clear? I learn the most when there are an infinite number of uncontrollable variables, like pedestrians, other motorists, weather, etc. etc.

Have fun!
