$35, 30min and it was done. 2.25" pipe, flared the ends, cut off the resonator with a torch and put in the straight pipe. Sound is nice, only really notice it when you get on it. Worth the money.

Oh, and this is on a 2004.

Yeh I didn't want all the super loud noise either, yeh at 6k VTEC the engine noise does drown it out. I wonder how the exhuast sounds from a passer by or something It sounds great in the cabin

OK, here's a picture
I had the stock resonator removed last Friday, and after a weekend of driving would never want to go back!
I had my favorite shop weld in a straight piece of 2.25" with a hanger, as I was concerned that clamping this piece might eventually allow some shifting of the downstream hardware.
I had the car up in the air to change the transmission / rear end / clutch fluids (all original @ 19K miles) so snapped this photo with the old resonator laying on the ground for reference.

Cost= $60 and 45 minutes

Cheers,
Brian

Nassssty, nasssty resonatorses. Gollum hates the nasssty resonatorsess.

Now tell me the car should not come stock that way. You just can't do it can you? . Because it's such a small difference in overall volume, but a really nice addition of exhaust sound, I really don't understand why Honda even puts it in. At least it's easy and inexpensive to remove.

If people are in the Orange Country (SoCal) area. I got this resonator mod done for only $20. They did a really nice job and the sound is incredible. The muffler shop is B&M Mufflers on Garden Grove Blvd in Garden Grove. They're really nice and the job only took like 30 min.

I just had mine taken out today. It was a very well spent $35. The sound clips do no justice to the difference it makes and I am all this evening.

i already had an aem intake on my car, so i really didn't notice too much of a difference. if you just want a *minor* volume increase, this is for you. i am convinced that unless i told people, everyone would still think it was stock.

am i let down with the sound? absolutely not. it's still a good sounding exhaust. just slightly louder.

First off, greetings to all. I've been grazing this site for the past several months after purchasing (new) an '04 S2000 in April. I've learned quite a bit about this jewel of an automobile from the information on this site - many thanks.

You can add my name to the list of satisfied customers who've had the resonator removed (Ripley's Exhaust & Brakes @FM1960 in Houston - very nice job, highly recommended). Like others have stated, it changes the sound just enough so you can actually hear the exhaust over the engine in the ~4-6K RPM range. I would describe the exhaust note as more "throaty" sounding under acceleration, as well as having a little more burble at idle. Now this isn't a substitute for an aftermarket exhaust, but it'll do the job for me until then. (My previous vehicle was an '01 A4 1.8Tq with a Milltek exhaust [plus MTM ECM] and I loved the sound of that car - even my wife loved the sound that car made!)

Once again, like many others have already stated who had this procedure performed, do it. It's a cheap mod that produces a nice result that should put a smile on your face. I'm loving it! (sorry, McDonalds...).
