Cutting Stock Springs
Hi....I'm new here...i know i'm going to get some negative responses and flamed for this..but being a broke high school student i wanted to lower my s2k so i cut the springs
i thought hey its my birthday soon and i can get springs if it handled like crap.well seeing other ricers cutting their springs and their stories on hwo it handled like shit and bounced around everywhere
then i was reading somewhere on s2ki and one guy cut it and said it handled better. and everybody else here just like any s2k owner loves their s2k too much to mess around. i took the chance and cut one and a half coil in the front and one coil in the back. i know for sure the downside is the springs not sitting in the seat correctly.and a chance of it coming uot of the seat. and "bouncing a lot" and shorter shock life. HONESTLY. i didnt even get an alignment yet and it handles just the same if not better less body roll around the corner. only difference while driving is it tends to bounce a little more than stock well stock had a lot of bump steer and hopped around a lot. at least the hopping and bump steer is gone so its safer for me.just wanted to let some of the s2ki owners here know how it is to cut the stockies.

Im not going to flame you for your actions. Its your car and you can do whatever your want. Hell, Id rather cut my springs than drive in some of the s2000's on this forum. But what I cant understand is how you somehow can affors this car -regardless of what you may have paid for it- but couldnt pay $160 (Tein S tech) for some springs?

What I want to know is how you can afford an S2000 in HS! Insurance is probably as high as your loan payment
Anyhow, back on topic. I would buy the correct springs for the sole purpose that cut springs are just not as safe. That would be enough for me not to do it.
Out of curiosity, where do you guys live that you can lower your s2k's and not scrape? Mine is at factory height and I scrape my nose nearly every day I drive it.
